Brilliant pkace to work
Assistant Manager (Former Employee) - London - 29 May 2021
Absolutely loved working at PaddyPower. Brilliant people, great customers, fair managers and most if all great job satisfaction. Was gutted that i had to leave due to illness and if i had the strength would go back in a heartbeat. Love all bookies.....but paddypower is the best and the only one that supports its staff with pleasure rather than regret. Work for paddypowet you will always have a smile on your face.....
Pros
Travel card

Good place to work
Branch Manager (Current Employee) - Bradford, West Yorkshire - 7 April 2021
have been a manager at paddy power for 3 years, and the majority of the time it's been very good, they are very generous with bonuses for staff, my district manager really looked after the wellbeing and mental health of staff, the banter with customers is always a plus part of the job the atmosphere in a bookies can really make your day better, the down side to bookie life at paddy power is the 10pm closes and weekends, they go short staffed alot due to there not been enough shops close together to borrow staff for uncovered shifts, so if you like over time its perfect, also they got rid if deputy managers so the process of moving up in the business is quite hard as management rolls don't come around too often, but all in all its been a great place to work and I will miss it
Pros
Bonuses
Cons
Late nights

Don't work at Paddy
Customer Service Team Leader (FTE) (Former Employee) - Dartford - 17 February 2021
The job is hard. The managers are rubbish. The customers are agressive and no help from managers. Have to get to work early and finish late without getting paid. Unsociable hours not worth it for the money. They want you to manage on your own in evening which is dangerous!

Cons
Long hours and work weekends

Best of a bad bunch
CSTL (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 2 September 2020
Nothing to complain about other than management will put business needs before employee needs. Work life balance means nothing if it means keeping a shop open.
Pros
Great shop environments, competitive pay, job security
Cons
Management

I'm sure other bookies must be worse. Right?
Customer Service Team Leader (Current Employee) - London, Greater London - 19 July 2020
Not the best workplace:
-Terrible, rude moody customers.
-Draconian employee policies.
-Upper management putting customers before you while also penalising you for any and everything.
-Cashiers do the same tasks the managers do, but get half the hourly wage.
-Terrible hours/pay.
-Managers abusing the rota policy and always scheduling themselves to finish work in the afternoon 6/7 days of the week while you ONLY work nights.
Pros
It's a job
Cons
Terrible work life balance. You'll only be working nights if you're not a manager.

Busy shop that I made successful
Wickford as store Manager (Former Employee) - Wickford - 12 March 2020
Great place to work but company getting to a point where looking into what you do is more important than service and what you give, the fun was taken out of it.

Highly stressful environment
Customer Service Team Leader (Previously Assistant Manager) (Current Employee) - London - 18 February 2020
Bookmakers generally aren't the nicest place to work. They tend to be dirty and gloomy, the clients are generally rude aggressive and unhappy (as is the nature of the business) and you need to have an extremely thick skin. Not for the faint hearted. Management prioritise business over safety and mental health of staff. On the plus side, tips can boost your income, and the shift patterns for some are very desirable.
Pros
Tips
Cons
Generally an unpleasant enivronment

Short of staff
Customer Service Assistant (Former Employee) - London, Greater London - 11 February 2020
A company that is so overwhelmingly under staff that senior or more experienced members of staff often work by themselves in at times hostile environments. Will be often moved at last moment because of staff shortages. Not the most pleasant of working environments.
The salary is very decent, very quick job to pick up and fellow workers are nice to work with.

Relaxed
Shop Manager (Current Employee) - Leicester - 5 February 2020
The company are very fair and I go to work relaxed and ready for the day ahead! sometimes you are met with challenges but then that comes with any employment.
Overall I’ve had the best experience and time with paddy power I am going into my 7th year with the company and can’t yet see myself going anywhere else.

Terrible place to work, this is a soul crushing job with terrible management. Managers will leave staff to struggle so they can be lazy.
Customer Service Team Leader (Former Employee) - Piccadilly, Manchester - 30 January 2020
Terrible place to work. Terrible management. I would 100% say do not work here. the stores are under staffed and ran by lazy managers. The managers are not the best at their job, Just the people who stayed in a bad job the longest. save yourself the waste of time. managers will work the rotas so they do all the easy shifts and leave people getting paid the least to work the busiest and hardest times/shifts.
